Grosse Pointe South Baseball Tryouts

Important Information

It is important that all players arrive 100% READY to

showcase their ability and are ready to sprint from day one.

1. Lakeside is located at 3538 Cadieux, just west of Mack Avenue.

2. Players should get dropped off or carpool at

Lakeside due to limited parking.

3. All players must have their own gear, including helmet,

and report in proper baseball attire.

4. Players will be evaluated on throwing, speed and bat exit velocity,

as well as other pertinent baseball measurements.

5. PLAYERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PARK IN THE BACK LOT BY THE BASEBALL FIELD AT SOUTH.

6. Team selections will be made after these 5 tryout sessions.

7. Digital GOLD CARDS ARE REQUIRED BEFORE

CONDITIONING AND TRY OUTS.

8. Make sure your coach has a correct cell number for

last-minute changes to the schedule.

9. SCHEDULE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE DEPENDING ON WEATHER. PLAYERS SHOULD BE PREPARED TO GO OUTSIDE IF POSSIBLE.

Propsective Players for 2025 Season

Dear Prospective GPS Baseball Player,

We hope you’re doing well! As we approach the spring season, we wanted to share important information about Grosse Pointe South Baseball tryouts and the upcoming spring sports meeting.

Key Details:

• Tryouts: Coming up soon—dates and locations will be provided as soon as we get our facility scheduled from the Athletic Director. Tryouts could take place at Lakeside Indoor, South’s main gym, or the field, depending on weather and facility availability.

• Spring Sports Meeting: An informational meeting will be held MARCH 4, prior to tryouts to ensure all players and families are fully informed about the season.

Fees & Payment Information:

• $220 Pay-to-Play Fee – Paid to the school district via the athletic website. This covers umpires and transportation.

• Team Fees: • Freshman & JV: $400 • Varsity: $500

• These fees help cover baseballs, team swag, annual program book, and other essential costs such as: pitching machines, time at Lakeside Indoor, your player cost for the banquet and more.

There are opportunities to offset these costs through sponsorship in partnership with the Athletic Director’s Banner Program or by selling ads in our program book and roster cards.

Spring Break Trip & Camp Requirement: Players who have been contacted regarding the spring break trip will be required to work the March 14th camp as part of their commitment to the program.
